Mi Manca di Gelato

August 24th, 2006 | by Loretta |

I miss gelato. Upon returning from Italy, I did not eat ice cream for maybe a month or two. It just wasn’t the same.

That was 3 years ago.

I still haven’t had gelato in the States and do not plan on ever doing so. Because when I think of gelato, I think of this:

Gelato

And things like:

More gelato

And still, more gelato.

(Please note: these are not my pictures. I had to Google for them.)

These are actually not even close to what I think of when I think of gelato. I can’t find the pictures my group leader took when I went to study abroad. The general formula would be: colorful fresh mounds of dense gelato. While the treat is a little expensive, it’s well worth it.

The best place to get gelato was by Lago di Garda. There, I saw the largest gelaterias ever, one after another, with just mind-blowing choices in flavors. And since the competition was high, prices were rather low and the portions were insanely generous.

Sigh.
