Can Calories Not Count…?
July 22nd, 2006 | by Loretta |Can calories not count on weekends? I think so.
If we spend all our weekdays being careful and conscious about our nutrition, I think weekends should be the time of the week where we can get a little leeway. I’m not saying we should eat everything in sight and uncontrollably, but it seems reasonable to have an extra treat or two if it compels us. It’s the weekend– 71.4% of the week is over.
For breakfast, I had a quick fix– oatnut bread and PB. PB has hydrogenated veggie oil, but no trans fat. I’m confused. I haven’t figured that out, since most hydrogenated oils have trans fat. But it’s possible I may have misunderstood this. I only know how to draw a trans fat and not much else.
So for brunch, mom and I had some fresh fruit that we got from the produce market. Then, the entree?

Yes, it isn’t unfamiliar to have pizza for brunch or breakfast on the weekends in my house. And yes, when I was younger, mom did make pizza for breakfast– something most kids dream about was actually insisted upon by my mom.
Fresh from the supermarket is manufactured mozzarella. I love this stuff. And focusing on my calcium intake: it has 200 mg per serving. And less calories than whole milk.

It’s trick to know which way the layers run. The longer slices were a result of my misjudgement– I cut perpendicular to the grain. The shoter slices were parallel to the grain. And the difference is, with the shorter slices, the can be peeled like string cheese, which is part of the fun of enjoying mozarella.
I’m not sure what to do with the English muffins that I bought this week. They aren’t even whole grain like the ones I had last week, but I’ve come to like English muffins a lot. (I used to avoid them as a kid, unless mom made mini pizzas– then there’d be the cheese to cover the taste of English muffins.)

Erick was telling me he gets the grains stuck in his teeth. Poor thing.
