Keebler Elves

Maybe if the Keebler Elves did romp around on a regular basis, it would give Orlando Bloom’s Legolas a run for his money.

Unfortunately, they I have yet to see any Keebler Elves or their Fudge Shoppe. But I have witnessed their cookies on supermarket shelves and in our pantry at home.

As children, my brother and I would eat the E.L. Fudge sandwich cookies. There would be two pieces of shortbread, each imprinted with the front profile of an elf on one, and the backside on the other. So it would be like eating little people. And the cream in the center was a fudgy, soft frosting.

While I haven’t had those in a while, we have these in the house:Shortbread fudge stripes.

Since it’s summer, they keep better in the fridge, so the chocolate doesn’t melt and get all sticky. When fresh from the refridgerator, there’s a crisper texture to the overall cookie.

The only setback about these Fudge Striped Shortbread cookies would be that they don’t dip well in hot tea, unless it’s done with quick wrist action.

Consider that your warning. :)
